FIND US EASILY
Signs will guide you, and our greeters and signs will direct you to the large room we use for worship. There is plenty of parking in the lot to the north of the building (over the little bridge); we ask that, in consideration of our neighbours, that you do not park on the street.
WE LOVE KIDS
Your children can go to a bible-based teaching time taught by trained teachers during the service, or they can stay with you and participate with the adults
Some people dress up, some people dress down, but nobody notices: we're there to worship God together! Plus, we have a casual fellowship time following each service so that we can get to know each other better.
ABOUT ANGLICAN WORSHIP
OUR WORSHIP IS LITURGICAL
Our worship uses beautiful historic prayers to glorify God. If you’re not familiar with this type of worship, that’s OK: one of the great things about liturgical worship is that it’s written down, and you can follow along with everyone else in our worship booklets.
WE WORSHIP THROUGH MUSIC
We sing a balance of well known traditional hymns along with contemporary music, all to focus our worship on God. New participants are most welcome!
OUR WORSHIP INVOLVES EVERYONE
Anglican worship involves everyone in the service: praying, saying and singing together important words that testify to God’s great love for us. Our worship booklets help everyone – adults, children, newcomers, veterans – participate together to glorify God.
OUR WORSHIP IS BIBLICAL
Woven throughout Anglican worship is God’s word: you literally can’t miss it! Reading and teaching from the Bible every Sunday ensures that we’re using God’s words to transform our hearts and minds. We follow the Anglican lectionary, which means everyone can read along.
OUR WORSHIP IS SACRAMENTAL
We take seriously the great acts of worship that renew, refresh and re-establish our relationship with God: the Lord’s Prayer, a common confession, reciting the ancient creeds (which are self-contained prayers themselves), and, especially, Communion, which we celebrate together every week.
A WORSHIPPING COMMUNITY
Our community of 40 to 60 Sunday worshippers includes people from every walk of life, at every stage of life. This diversity is an important part of our faith: the most important thing that brings us together isn’t who we are, but whose we are.
Some worshippers at Ascension come from an Anglican background, but many others come from other church backgrounds - or are new the Christian faith – and have found at Ascension the deep riches of Anglican worship and the warm fellowship of a truly community church.
THE WHOLE WORLD
We have welcomed worshippers from across the lower mainland, and even around the world! A large proportion of parishioners come from or are currently involved in international ministry in places such as Japan, Uganda, Thailand, Singapore and Korea.
